This week the Javits Convention Center in New York City hosted the New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC) Supplier’s Day trade show event. Supplier’s Day has become one of the must-attend events for anyone in the cosmetic chemistry industry and is a great place for seeking business development, innovation and education.

The New York society of cosmetic chemists is the leading organisation that represents thousands of buyers and sellers in the east coast region of the USA and provides information exchange and forums for the NSCC (National Society of Cosmetic Chemists).

On the 2nd May the NYSCC hosted an awards ceremony night to show its appreciation to the society of cosmetic chemists and honour companies that have excelled in the industry across a range of categories.

This year we are proud to announce that our Tea Tree project in Kenya has been submitted by our North American distributors for nomination in the NYSCC Supplier’s Day ‘Most Sustainable Raw Material’ category, and we delighted to say we have been shortlisted in the nominations for this prestigious award.

Our Kenyan Tea Tree project has strived to achieve extremely high standards in sustainability and is now a certified carbon neutral company. Through in-depth work with the Tea Tree farmers and local communities Earthoil has achieved this status through a variety of channels including a glacier fed irrigation system that runs from Mount Kenya, vermicompost unit which uses processed Tea Tree as compost for soil fertility, eliminating any chemical inputs and providing workers families with Gasifire stoves that produce much less smoke and pollution, neutralising our CO2 emissions.

The ceremony was held in the grand ballroom of the Javits Convention Center (Stage 48) and is said to have been the highlight of the event. Earthoil are extremely proud to be nominated for this award and look forward to the results.
